Hi Marilyn: I received this clock 21 yrs ago as a wedding gift and until just recently, I had nowhere to use it. This clock did not come with a battery and I have no idea what type of battery it uses. I was wondering if you might be able to tell me what kind of battery to use. There are no markings on the clock itself to indicate the type of battery either. It is definitely not a AA or AAA battery. It is much shorter and fatter. I did get 2 different types which look close, but did not want to try them and possibly ruin the clock. The 2 types which look similar in size are: Energizer E90 listed as a 1.5V. The other is an Energizer A23 listed as a 12V? I hope you can help. Karl
Hi Karl,
I'm not sure if I can answer this without seeing the clock. I've had battery clocks in the shop that used the 1.5V. I haven't seen a clock that used the 12V.
First I would look where the battery goes. It may be listed where you insert the battery which would also show you which way the battery is to be inserted. If you can't tell, I would use the 1.5V since I've seen those.
The E90 is also known as a "N" type battery.
How about looking under the clock to see if there is any information.
The good news is that the battery wasn't left in the clock to corrode the terminals.
Good luck.
Marilyn
